The Roll Form Group of Samuel, Son & Co., Limited consists of three manufacturing locations across Canada and one manufacturing facility in the U.S. Each of the locations is set up to manufacture certain types of roll formed products. The companies work as a group with common strategic planning, shared technical expertise and manufacturing capabilities.

The Roll Form Group supplies all major industries with custom roll forming and fabrication solutions as well as branded product lines targeted to the commercial building industry. As a value added supplier, the Roll Form Group provides customers with complete integration of the Group’s facilities, product planning and research and development.

Corporate History

Samuel, Son & Co., Ltd. was started back in 1855 and has become a leader in the metals industry. Growth and acquisition are an integral part of the company with a strong emphasis on quality products and services, safety and the environment.

The Roll Form Group can offer a wide range of services unequaled in the industry. Combined, the Group’s manufacturing facilities are incorporated in over 400,000 sq. ft. of production floor space with production lines including cold and hot roll forming mills, in line notching, piercing, and punching. In addition, separate fabricating bays include shearing, brake forming, MIG and TIG welding, plasma cutting, precision drilling and assembly.

As a Group we supply all major industries including commercial and residential building, architectural roofing and cladding, rail and road transport and heavy construction products.

Focused on creating innovative roll forming solutions!

Our roll formed products supply virtually all major industries including industrial and residential building, architectural design applications, rail and road transport, automotive, recreational, agricultural, office furniture, mining and heavy construction such as seaport dry docks and highway guiderail systems.

Roll formed parts range in size from a few inches, weighing less than 5 oz., to heavy, long and wide sections, measuring over 100 feet and weighing up to 4000 lbs. Shapes range from the simplest to the most complex and include in-line piercing, notching and welding. Custom fabrications can be provided as value-added customer service.

Commercial/Architectural Building Products

We manufacture a wide range of standard and custom profiles for commercial, industrial, architectural and residential applications. Products include roof decks, acoustic decks, composite floor decks, wall and sloped roof cladding. The patented ‘Curve Clad’ can be manufactured to any radius to meet any architectural design criterion.

Our ‘Curved Clad’ provides architects and designers the flexibility to incorporate sweeps and curves into the building envelope.

Heavy Construction Products

Heavy Construction products include highway guiderail systems, cold rolled sheet piling, hot rolled sheet piling, ‘H’ Pile, Pipe Pile, Hot Rolled Structurals, Pile Points and Tie Rods. Our patented ‘Waterloo Barrier’ is an environmental product with a sealable interlock designed to create a low permeable cut off wall. North American road systems use our highway guiderails, cold rolled and galvanized, stretching along thousands of kilometers.

The Roll Form Group manufactures steel Guiderail for highway and private properties, including our System #1 “W” Beam Guiderail, Three Cable Guiderail System, and support posts.

Custom Forming

Roll Form engineers and designers provide cooperative partnering with clients to maximize the advantages of the roll form process. Our advanced software and full service fabrication capabilities can provide not only near net shapes but can actually totally fabricate many products.

An example of the value-added service is our ability to manufacture a completely assembled welded machinery rack. Other manufacturers were unable to provide dimensional consistency in its overall configuration. Working with our design team and tooling experts, partnered with our customers engineers, the Roll Form Group were able to provide a total solution to design and fabricate parts with total success.

The result of these partnering projects is a superior product that represents a value added bonus for our customers and products that meet or exceed quality objectives.

We manufacture a number of rail car structural sections including the centre sill for this coal car.

Locations

Mississauga, Ontario facility

Roll Form Group is a leader in the field of cold roll forming and has the capability to service clients in Canada and the U.S.

Roll forming capabilities are complemented by in-line notching and piercing eliminating the need for secondary operations. Roll Form Group manufactures lengths up to 100 ft. in material thickness from 30 gauge sheet steel up to 5/8" plate. Heavy, long and wide sections are our specialty.

Roll Form Group production lines include parts for the architectural building, heavy construction industry and rail and urban transit industries.

Cambridge, Ontario facility

The Mississauga, Ontario plant manufactures products such as steel deck and siding, auto rack parts and components for high speed rail passenger cars. This location also specializes in roll forming a wide range of metals including ferrous and non ferrous metals, plain, painted galvanized and stainless steels in thickness from .010" to .300" and widths up to 24". There are many production lines with secondary in-line processing capabilities including piercing, punching and sweeping. Micro processor controls ensure the accurancy of our prepunching and cut off operations. Quality is a major component of every section we roll form. Quality audits are performed on raw materials, in process and finished goods ensuring every product shipped meets the highest standards. Roll Form Group also has the capability to manufacture complex, critical tolerance components for automotive, recreational and other industries. In-line piercing, notching, stamping and welding are available as value-added services.

Nisku, Alberta facility

The Cambridge, Ontario plant produces heavier gauge products such as sheet piling, structural sections, and guiderail through two plants with combined production area of over 170,000 sq. ft. Products range from midsize to some of the biggest sections produced by the roll form industry anywhere.

Sections manufactured are for the residential and commercial building industry. Road and seaport infrastructure, heavy construction, rail and urban transit are our focus.

Building and construction products cover a wide variety of applications such as roof decks and metal cladding. Sheet piling is used as retaining walls for seaways and to control soil erosion. The company has the ability to design ‘Custom-Made’ solutions to suit your specific needs.

Iuka, Mississippi facility

The Nisku, Alberta plant, operates under Omega Joists. Omega is a recognized leader in the design, engineering, manufacturing and supply of open web steel joists used primarily in the commercial and industrial building products industry in Western Canada. Omega also has sales offices in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Calgary, Alberta and Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Our new 130,000 square foot state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Iuka, Mississippi started production in June 2007. Situated close to road, rail and water transportation systems, this new facility will have easy access to low-cost steel supply from a number of U.S. steel plants.

We believe this new facility will be able to more effectively service growing demands for our products from the U.S. heartland and Mexico.
